Aside from being the most horror-y (which definitely is a factor), experiencing Meakashi after Watanagashi or Onikakushi a second time (after you've gone through Tsumihoroboshi) completely reframes Watanagashi and Onikakushi in a fantastic way. Lumping Watanagashi and Meakashi together, that combo and Onikakushi are my favorites. I definitely think Minagoroshi-hen was great, the set up was brilliant and. Minagoroshi-hen, I think it's largely considered the best arc of Higurashi. I really do think all chapters have some elements or scenes that makes you go " this is why this chapter is so awesome". First of all it is the first real confirmation we get on the continuity between the chapters, but watching Keiichi break down and then pick himself back up is just so good.įinally, the rooftop scene, which is one of, if not the most iconic scene in the entire story, and for good reason too.īut yeah, the chapters you mention are great too.
Third, the scene where they reconciliate in the garbage dump is such a powerful scene, and it really shows the beauty in the power of friendship.įourth, the flashback scene is one of my favorite scenes in the entire story. Second is Rena's struggles and determination to take back her happy days are amazing - the first and only time I cheered when someone was getting murdered. I think nearly all chapters are amazing and have something different going for them, but my favorite has to be Tsumihoroboshi.įirst of all, Rena and Keiichi are my favorite characters and they both get to be awesome with tons of screentime in this one.
